Camcorders With External Microphone
Choosing a specific Video Camera/Camcorder?
I’m planning on buying a new video camera, but I don’t have much expertise in the field. I know what I want, but don’t know which one to get.
Memory type: Definitely either SD/Flash memory or Hard Drive
Recording time: 2 hours is definitely enough, and I doubt that there are any new camcorders out there that record less than that
Resolution: Don’t care about HD, so Standard if fine
Aspect ratio: Fine with 4:3, but 16:9 is preferable. Doesn’t really affect my decision though.
Quality: I don’t care that much about resolution, but I want the quality to be good. If it’s blurry when at full resolution, probably not what I want.
Price: Less than $1000 AUD, preferably under $700 but under $1000 will do. $1000 AUD is currently about $840 USD
And if possible, an external microphone jack, but that’s only if it’s possible.
I would look at either the sony or panasonic in the links below. Both are under $500.00 USD and have the features you are looking for. The reason I recommend these models are the price and the optical zoom capability. The sony has 60X optical zoom and the panasonic has 70X optical zoom.
