Should I buy the Canon HF M300 or Panasonic HDC-SD60S?
I am looking to purchase my first camcorder. Both of these camcorders seem to get similar reviews from CNET & Amazon.com users. They are both in the same price range. Does one of these models stand out from the other? If so, in what way? Also, feel free to share if there other camcorders you would recommend in the sub-$500 price range.
I lean more towards the Canon HF M300 than the Panasonic HDC-SD60S for a couple of reasons. The Canon HF M300 has an external microphone port (the Panasonic HDC-SD60S does not). And the Panasonic HDC-SD60S can take still images, but it is captured from the video. The Canon can take true 3.3MP still images, and with many setting options. Mainly the mic port was the deal breaker for me.
