was woundering which camcorder i should get canon or sony.

Hunnerbunner makes a good point. Sony is great for pc, but not so hot on the mac. And for the type of camera that we’re talking about, there’s not really much else different between them, except that Canon has a history of making great lenses. Also, JVC has an HD Everio for a little less dollar, but very similar in quality.
At the price range you’re talking about, however, you might consider shelling out an extra couple of dollars and going for a prosumer camera. You’ll get a better quality lens and sensor, which will greatly increase your picture quality, and you’ll also get a much better onboard mic. Only downside would be portability, but it’s all up to you!
