Camcorders Under 100 Bucks

October 20th, 2008

What’s a good movie editing program to use with Sony DVD camcorders?

I have a sony DVD camcorder and the only draw back has been its software to edit video. Does anyone know of a good relatively inexpensive video editing software to use with it? I checked a few websites and they recommend $800 programs, I was thinking more like under a 100 bucks or there about. :)

Greetings,

It’s a bummer that you have a DVD Camcorder… The video will have to get compressed a second time thus resulting in a degraded video. However a good program should still edit well. I’ve had good luck with Cyberlink’s Power Director version 3. I have not upgraded to the current version because I don’t need too plus a lot of the streaming video options were removed. (It’s under $100.

I also have Adobe Premiere Elements version 1 but version 2 is out and looks like it’s more user friendly. It’s also under $100.

Nero makes a video editing program also. There are a lot of cheap programs available. But a good place to start would be http://www.thedvshow.com/ and https://www.camcorderinfo.com

The best way to get a good editing program is to look around for friends who already have a program or two and try them. The $450 plus programs are great, but for basic editing and burning, it’s overkill.
