Camcorders Tapeless
Can someone explain these types of camcorders for me please?
Difference between , MiniDV, Hard Drive, Tapeless
MiniDV camcorders use tape to store video and audio, Hard drive (aka HDD) use a hard drive to store audio and video, and tapeless usually means a camcorder that captures the video and audio to a HDD or DVD,
Most HDD and DVD camcorders capture in mpeg2 format (the same format used to store video and audio on to DVD’s) which is a great delivery format but not a very good format for editing.
MiniDV captures in the DV format and is less prone to degrade when edited,
You can get add on HDD’s that plug in to MiniDV camcorders that capture the DV format but cost about twice as much as the average camcorder.
