camcorders standard def
Is it still worth getting a MiniDV camcorder?

My boss found an old stock of JVC GR D850 camcorders and said that she would sell them off for a $100 (there is also a no tax event next week). They seem ok to me, but with this camcorder being standard def and using MiniDVs, I was wondering if it would still be a good buy or should I just try to save up for an HD camcorder?
From what my boss tells me the camcorders are new, they are just old stock

That price is about right for a used JVC GR D850. Hopefully you’ll get all the accessories that came with the camera, especially the A/C power adapter. That cameras uses IEEE 1394 (FireWire/i.LINK) interface (cable) to connect to your computer to capture the video from the tapes. So your computer will need to have the same port. You can use Windows Movie Maker to capture the video.
