Is there any other software besides FlipShare that works with Flip camcorders?
Yes, you don’t have to use FlipShare. You do have to know how to copy files from your camcorder to your computer. You also have to know the format of the video. According to the Flip web site it is
H.264 video compression, AAC audio compression, MP4 files format.
You can now look for editing software that will accept that video file format. It depends on the software. Another thing you can do is if you have Windows XP or Vista you could try a totally free program called Pazera:

It is a small file size to download and seems to work ok.

Convert the video and the new copy should open in most video editing programs.
Important tips:
Never wipe out the original file, you might need it again.
Export the video with a new file name, just add a number or something so you can tell it apart from the original file.
In some video editing programs you might have to tell it to display the video as 16:9 aspect ratio. The video will looked squished if you don’t.
