Which Camcorder is Best for me?
Im going on safari and i want to make a video diary so i can show everyone what happend while i was away… But i have no idea which one to get i have done abit of research and the best ones in my price range i think are : Panasonic SDR – 159.99
Canon F19 Sd camcorder with 1800 digital zoom and 37x optical zoom – 279.99
Sanyo Xacti VPC compact with 10 optical zoom – -
Which is best?
Do you have any experience or think there are any better camcorders out there?
I need a camcorder below 300

Safari takes in a lot of options, but what i think are the prime considerations are durability, redundancy, media, and battery life. My recommendations are to go with a media card style and get sufficient cards so that you can do at least 30 minutes of video recording per day. More cards would be desirable and cards that interchange with your selection of digital still camera would give more flexibility. You need 2 cameras, think of your camcorder and still camera as a team. That way if an elephant steps on one, or a street urchin grabs one, you still have cross-over capability. So your still camera should have a video or movie mode too. You might consider buying less that the largest size of cards as you will want to start with a fresh card each day of the trip. Having your entire vacation on one big card is a no-no, to much of a chance of losing everything. Battery management will be determined on what models of cameras you take. Remembering that AC power may not be available during the trek for charging. getting a charger that can operate from a vehicle 12 volt may be an option to consider. having sufficient batteries to not need recharge for several days of shooting is even better.
i think the xacti VPC-WH1 would be a good choice. being waterproof and rugged, it will keep shooting in conditions where lesser camcorders have already quit. has 3 hour plus battery life per charge. Amazon price is $313.
