are hdd camcorders region free?
or are they like videos, which have languages like pal, secam etc, and dvd’s which have regions?
If i get a hdd camcorder from the states, will have any problems playing the footage back on my pc in the UK and burning it onto dvd which will play in uk region dvd player?
There is no region code like on a DVD, but they do have different versions for NTSC or PAL. The sensor chips often have different numbers of pixels depending on the system, and the frame rate is different (30fps vs 25fps). Even high-def camcorders have separate versions for NTSC and PAL. (Some pro camcorders can shoot both or can be factory modified to switch the recording system.)
As far as your PC goes, it doesn’t matter as PCs can play any format video. If your DVD player can play NTSC videos then it will be fine too, but not all can. Keep in mind that even if your player can play NTSC, the quality won’t be as good as a PAL camcorder, because the conversion from NTSC<>PAL involves a loss in quality and smoothness of motion.
