Camcorders Lines Of Resolution
I need a camera for an industrial setting?
I need a camera that I can use to take photos and videos of metal pieces on an assembly line for cataloging purposes. The camera would need to be able capture high resolution images that can pick up etched serial numbers in the metal, as well as colored markings on the surface of the metal pieces. I’ve thought about camcorders, still digital cameras, and HD webcams. What would be best for an industrial setting that would need to be operational for 8+ hrs a day? Could I buy an HD webcam and a piece of software that allows me to take pictures without connecting the webcam to the internet?
Oh yikes, are you saying you need to take macro shots of something that is actually MOVING on an assembly line at the time?
If so -forget it. On top of all the other issues, those items are probably never in the EXACT same distance from the camera, right?
Can’t be done.
A web cam would do the worst job. A camcorder would do ok, but I doubt you could read numbers if they are whizzing past. You MIGHT be able to set something up if the position of those items is VERY precise so you can pre focus and the distance stays the same, but I still don’t like your chances.
If those items are NOT moving at the time, then there are lots of cameras that can take good macro shots, plus you can get an eye-fi card to immediately upload the results.
