basic lessons for video formats and video systems?

As i see there are many video formats used by different camcorders and video players. I have no idea for them and want to learn the basics of them. What i have to do when i record and what i have to do when i transfer them to computer or when i burn them to a media such dvd, cd etc.
Can i play a video disk that i burned as above in different players and different countries? Does it deepens from the Pal or NTSC system?
Look up the terms that you already understand, and that will lead you to what you don’t understand. It won’t take long.
I can only give you advice on the old stuff.
