hi, I am looking for a new camcorder budget can be Rs 27 -28K but realistically I want to spend 20K only. I am confused over HD and SD camcorders whether HD cam are really worth it more over, I need to create DVDs of my home videos to be watched on standard DVDs so Y HD? now the brand, sony or panasonic considering all aspects including re-sale value as well. Do not know much abt Panasonic camcorders but have used sony in past. Problem with sony is that they have so many models in which specs differ so much that confusions mount like in one model they’ll give u 25X Zoom only but HD with 16GB internal and 16GB external card, in another model HDD based cam with 60X optical zoom but then price will go really high moreover HDMI cable would cost extra 2500 Rs. Can any expert help me out of my confusions, I am home video maker only with need to convert my videos into DVD format and preserve them on DVDs
HD is really worth it and it always better for faster recording, transfer, and storage size. It is always better to choose Sony over Panasonic when it comes to HDD cams. There are models where there is an extra SD card slot that will be used for images and also for video.
Buy an HDMI-cable only if you will use it. I haven’t used my HDMI in the last 2 years. I own both a Sony and JVC handycams and I feel Sony is slightly better when it comes to reliablity. My experience is that less than 40-50X zoom is not really worthy and having a bigger zoom comes in handy for landscape videos.
