Camcorders Best Rated
Need a camcorder/ video camera that has good quality and editting questions?
I’m starting a youtube channel of me jerking and music. I was wondering what are some good video cameras and camcorders that have good quality and I’m 16 so don’t make it too much money my range is in the $100 to $250. Also softwares to edit my stuff i would like if you could name some programs to get or computers that are good to edit videos. Thanks for help and best answer i will rate and vote !
Ultimately, it depends on your requirements. $100 – $250 certainly won’t get you decent high defination, and the most you will be able to find is those crappy pocket camcorders, which are absolute garbage.
That budget will however get you an excellent standard defination camcorders. Make sure you get proper camcorders and not those awful pocket camcorders. I have a Toshiba Camileo X100 and Jesus, it is bad. The reason why I say get a proper camcorder is yes pocket camcorders maybe more convienent, but they offer much less features than a camcorder.
I like to have creative control with my camcorder. Manual white balance, powerful zoom, etc. Are you wanting to go cardless or will you be okay with tapes? My college uses the bargain basement Canon MD101 camcorders which are okay I suppose – This uses the MiniDV format, recording onto a digital cassette, where for editing you have to upload via FireWire to your computer (Like recording something from the TV onto a VCR) It’s digital, and no quality is lost if editing uncompressed.
Cardless does have that edge, but you run into compatability problems which might require lengthy conversions etc… No, I would stick with MiniDV if your just starting out. Avoid like the plague camcorders like the Flip – For good quality, it’s a joke.
The kicker here is how powerful is your computer? I’m asking because I have a moderate end Windows XP PC from 2003 which I still use for video editing (and occasional game) and although it runs software from 2008, it is ridiculously slow. So I popped on the 2005 version of my editing software.
And also, how much editing do you want to do? If it’s just simple cut and paste editing to produce a video, any software will do. (Just don’t use Movie Maker!) I use Ulead VideoStudio 9 (2005) because the slowness of my computer means I can’t run anything too high end. It is almost patronisingly easy to use VideoStudio – I consider myself a novice at editing, and I find the learning curve for Adobe too difficult for my needs.
I have experimented with the updated version, Corel VideoStudio X2 which although better makes my machine too slow. Any relatively new machine shouldn’t have a problem with X2 though. If your wanting a bit more “umph” invest in Sony Vegas Platinum suite kit – HD Editing, Audio mastering and DVD authoring. And since it’s a shade under £40, it’s very affordable (Edit, I’m British, forgive me 
)
