Bargain Camcorders – Where to buy?

I am looking to buy a basic camcorder (flash or card). Its going to be my first and I intend to use it for casual/family/non-professional usage. Any ideas:
a. Which one I buy; and
b. Which website I buy from?

Thanks in advance.

the best cameras for the beginner are tape cameras, such as mini dv and Hi8. tape camcorder camera technology is proven and the tapes are readily available and very inexpensive, the cameras themselves can be found very cheap, under 150 for a new dv or under a 100 for a lightly used Hi8. the advantage of using mature tape technology is that the optics are superb, you can get cameras with excellent lenses and low light sensitivity. I do not recommend entry level flash based cameras, such as the cmos based vado or flip. these cameras have very basic optics and no aperture control, meaning that video shot where there are fast moving subjects or low light will experience tiling and artifacts, and inconsistent frame rates, something that is rare in tape recordings. Mini DV cameras are readily available, i recomend buying at walmart, thanks to their 90 day satisfaction warranty, you can use the camera and if you don’t like it, return it. Hi8 cameras are no longer manufactured, but are readily available used on craigs list or on eBay, many can be found in NOS(new old stock) condition. my favorite brands in camcorders are canon,(excellent lenses and sensors) and samsung (beginner friendly, nice lenses). i do not like sony because they are over complicated and tend to use proprietary technology, batteries can be expensive for sony, Panasonic also does not use the best lenses, plastic lenses, and the build quality is so-so

The F06 Blue Filter produces a smooth beam of blue light.
