what is the difference between a hard drive and dvd camcorder, in terms of media cost, power usage and time consumed to record it into the hard disk/dvd
Both HDD and DVD camcorders record in mpeg2 format, so the video quality is about the same. In terms of recording time, you can record 7+ hours of video (at the highest quality setting) vs. only 20 minutes per mini DVD disc. There are also high capacity batteries available that lets you record for 2+ hours.
For media cost, the mini DVDs cost about as much (if not more) than the standard size DVDs.
