Mini Digital Camera help???
i just bought one of these little cameras, and installed the software which included the driver and the Arcsoft Photo Impressions 4.0 application. The instructions direct you to double-click on the shortcut for the driver named Marscam CIF. Everytime I do that, I get a response “Driver Open Fail”. Does anyone know why this happens. I am using Microsoft XP as my operating software. Until I can get a driver to work correctly, I cannot tell how good the pics on the camera are. Please help!!
I’m not an expert so no guarantees this will work. Sometimes the device must be plugged in to the computer in order for the installation to work, and other times it must NOT be plugged in until the install process tells you to. Sometimes you have to turn off your antivirus before you install any software from a disk. If you’re downloading the software from a website, you might have to also turn off your firewall.
Before you attempt to reinstall the Arcsoft you’ll need to make sure it’s not already appearing somewheres on your hard drive. If it is, you’ll need to delete it so you can do a clean install. First, go to add/remove programs in your control panel. If you see Arcsoft (or any other program related to your new camera) follow the prompts to remove them.
Next, look through All Programs at your main menu and all submenus. If you see Arcsoft or any other programs related to your camera, right click on the name and you should get a delete or remove option.
Finally, search all files and folders for Arcsoft, Marscam, and any other name that might be associated with your camera. Sometimes an installation attempt puts separate files or folders on the hard drive and they don’t appear in the add/remove or menu sections.
Once you’re finished go ahead and turn off your antivirus program (and firewall if you’re downloading from a website) and try the installation again making sure the camera is (or is not) plugged in. If it still doesn’t work, I’d suggest contacting Arcsoft customer support. They might know of other issues that could affect a good install.
