Auto Record Camcorders

i have a sharp camcorder vl model, how do i disable the auto shut off.?
im recording a presentation at church, i have the camcorder hooked to a vcr but the camcorder shuts off after a couple minutes. i need it to stay on without using the record on the camcorder, any help would be appreciated. i also have access to a couple different parisioners camcorders, but am having same problem so if anyone knows how to get a general solution that i can apply please let me know. thanks
